Johnston Realty was founded by Harry Johnston in 1958 while Harry was in the building business. Harry's son H.R. Johnston returned to Douglas in 1984 from Denver, Colorado, where he had practiced law and operated a service business since 1967 and joined Harry in the real estate business. After Harry's death in1993 H.R.'s wife, Judith L. Johnston, obtained her real estate license and has been active in the business since 1994.
H.R. has a legal background in contract law, a good working knowledge of tax law, and a business background. H.R. has been, and is, a licensed attorney in both Colorado and Wyoming since 1967. Judith is very proficient in residential sales and has a GRI designation.
H.R. has served on the Douglas City Council, was President of the Douglas Community Club for several years, and served as President of F.A.I.R., Inc. (a non-profit organization promoting the Wyoming State Fair in Douglas).
Judith served on the Board of Trustees of Converse County Memorial Hospital, has been President of the Douglas Board of Realtors several times, has served on the Board of Directors of the Douglas Chamber of Commerce, has been President of the Chamber Board, and is presently President of the Board of Directors of Solutions for Life, Inc., a non-profit community mental health organization.
Tyler Johnston, HR's son, has had a Wyoming Real Estate license for a number of years while exploring other career opportunities, most recently Tyler was Assistant manager of Verizon Wireless in Casper, Wy. Tyler is a long time resident of Douglas after attending college for a number of years in Chadron, Ne he returned to Douglas with is wife Candace and children to work in the family business as the General Manager of The LaBonte Hotel. Tyler is currently working with HR and Judy to implement current and future technology to bring our clients the best advertisements and expose to their properties and drive home sales in central Wyoming.
